Nuhu Ribadu (Former EFCC CEO) |
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in its bid to appoint a new national chairman had looked favourably to appoint the former chief of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu but he could not be found.
Report has it that governors and chieftain of the PDP had made moves to name him as the next chairman which may not be unconnected with reports that he had indicated interest in the office last year. Then he was tipped to be the next chairman; a move that was thwarted by the National Working Committee under the aegis of its interim leader, Uche Secundus.
According to reports, Nuhu Ribadu who is a card-carrying member of the PDP went 'awol' as members gave a man-hunt frenzy to reach him to accept the offer. As this however proved futile, the meeting of the national executive committee which held on Tuesday, 16th February, 2016 ended with Alhaji Ali Modu Sherriff as the newly appointed chairman of the party.
In a related development, the PDP board of Trustees have been reported to have rejected Ali Modu Sherriff's appointment
